It’s a new year and with it come a pair of exciting new initiatives from the North Adelaide Precinct Association, in partnership with the Adelaide City Council and a number of local businesses.
Both O’Connell and Melbourne Streets are renowned Adelaide ‘eat street’ destinations. Timed to coincide with major events at the Adelaide Oval, StreetEAT North Adelaide will see (primarily food & wine) businesses from both of North Adelaide’s main street precincts bringing their wares out onto the street to entice passers-by and, in particular, encourage people headed to the Oval to spend more time in North Adelaide.

The first StreetEAT experience will take place in the lead up to the Cricket One Day International between Pakistan and India, on Sunday 15 February.

LastFRIDAY in North Adelaide is the brainchild of internationally renowned artist and North Adelaide business owner Emma Hack (who is also an active member of the North Adelaide Precinct Association). LastFriday will see a diverse cross section of North Adelaide businesses collaborating with local arts organisations, individual artists, designers and other creative producers to build a monthly arts/food/wine/fashion trail across the Melbourne and O’Connell Street quarters on the evening of the last Friday of each month.
LastFRIDAY will be launched by Lord Mayor Martin Haese on February 27.
Anyone who knows O’Connell Street will be familiar with the fence along the old Le Cornu site. The Makris Group has come on board for LastFRIDAY launch, giving us permission to reimagine this fence in a ‘paint by numbers’-style exercise, which will be designed by Emma Hack. For the families, there will be a build your own Robot Head workshop and parade at North Adelaide Village, and buskers and other musical entertainment will be strategically placed throughout the precinct.
